Interview Craig - "It's Been Rewarding to See How Creative the Kids Get When Playing" ❤️

Q: What inspired you to create this playroom?
A:
Inspiration for the playroom naturally came from my kids who always climbed on everything around the house even before they could walk. They needed a dedicated space and some equipment designed specifically for climbing and swinging.

Q: How many children do you have and how old are they?
A:
 2 girls, 7 and 10 yrs old

Q: Where are you located?
A:
 Chicago

Q: Did you design it yourself?
A:
My wife and I collaborated on the design and layout. It’s only about 1/4 completed currently and we continue to think of new ideas. It’s been fun to pick out new equipment and obstacles to inspire their imagination. It’s been rewarding to see how creative they get when playing on the triangle rope swing and monkey bars, whether it’s part of an obstacle course run or new moves or challenges!

Q: What materials were required that were not included in your Project Playroom order?
A:
Lots of mats!! Safety is definitely first and we have an array of mats in different sizes and thicknesses below areas where the kids could be hanging or swinging from. Also used 2x4s screwed into ceiling joists and swing and monkey bars are secured into the 2x4s by lag screws.

Q: How did you first hear about Project Playroom?
A:
We wanted to start with monkey bars and a search returned the colorful monkey bars from Project Playroom! I want the playroom to be eye captivating and inviting!

Q: What was your experience like setting up and installing our products?
A:
The monkey bars naturally required some measuring and placement. But once that is determined, installation was a breeze. The website also includes some great tips on getting started! The triangle swing was easy to install and I absolutely love the designer ceiling hook!

Q: Did the products you ordered arrive in a timely manner?
A:
Yes!

Q: How long did it take you from start to finish?
A:
This is an ever evolving project! You can easily secure the 2x4s and install the monkey bars, swings, and any other products that will be secured into the 2x4s in a day or so. The measuring took the most amount of time. I still need to install a few more 2x4s and determine what other hanging obstacles I want to use. Most likely a classic swing, ninja obstacles, cargo nets, etc. It’s been a fun and rewarding experience…and most of all the kids LOVE it and their friends are always wowed when they see it for the first time!

Q: Any design advice for other parents?
A:
You don’t need a big space, but you just need to have some ideas on layout. Once you get started and see the project coming alive, other ideas will come to you! I also search for images of playrooms to inspire some ideas. I’m a visual person and need to see things.
