Q: How many children do you have and how old are they?
A: My kids are in their 20's but I built this room for my two grandkids who are ages 4 and 1.
Q: Where are you located?
A: Rockland, NY
Q: What inspired you to create this playroom?
A: My grandkids call me "Baba" and they always want to come over to Baba's house! Since they're always at my house I wanted to find a way to keep up the WOW factor. It gets cold here in NY so I wanted them to have a fun, happy, and safe place to enjoy during the winter months.
Q: Did you design it yourself?
A: Yes, with help from my designer Carolina Keimig. She's based in Miami and helped me put my ideas on paper and added all the extra structures I wanted, like the double story playhouse.
Q: What materials were required that were not included in your Project Playroom order?
A: We wanted it to be safe and we didn't want things falling out by accident so I had to get bolt screws that were heavy and thick to screw into the walls. I think the 2-inch No. 10 bolts are what my contractor decided to use for the monkey bars.
Q: Any design advice for other parents?
A: Follow your vision and make your dream come true. It should make you happy walking into your playroom. My space has no windows but I wanted it to feel like a tropical oasis. Very fun but very zen. I got an 8x8 foam pit and I don't think the smaller sizes can even compare. It has multiple uses; I sometimes climb in with my own kids who are in their 20's and just chat and hang out. Even as adults, it's great to just sit, talk, and relax. It's so comfortable you feel like you're floating!
Q: How did you first hear about Project Playroom?
A: I stumbled on the Instagram page and I liked the whole concept of indoor playrooms for all ages and stages.
Q: Did the products you ordered arrive in a timely manner?
A: Yes! Very much so!
Q: How long did it take you from start to finish?
A: The planning stage took the most time.
