Project Playroom is a lifestyle brand which sells modern playroom products, and designs select high-end communal and commercial playrooms. We believe that the playroom should be an imaginative experience where memories are made.

 Our Story

OUR INSTA-CONNECTION

Thanks to a combination of luck, good timing and social media, Karri and Denise met in January 2019. Karri knew she needed an interior designer for her next communal playroom project - a residential building in NYC called the Manhattan House, and reached out to Denise. Their personalities and expertise complemented each other so seamlessly that their inaugural project transformed into the inspiration for a joint venture. While they each maintain their own businesses, Project Playroom is responsible for designing high-end communal playrooms where interior design is just as important as functionality. In 2020, they launched their own line of playroom products.

CO-FOUNDER

If you have ever heard the term EDUCATIONAL DESIGN, you have our Co-Founder Karri Bowen-Poole to thank. As the Founder and CEO of Smart Playrooms, Karri has spent the last 10 years revolutionizing the way children learn and play, sharing her passion and knowledge and giving children and families the gift of a "Smart Playroom."

This brilliant idea came to Karri in the middle of the night and she is just as passionate today as she was ten years ago about rethinking playroom design and changing the way children play. 

As Founder of Smart Playrooms, Karri has designed hundreds of residential playrooms for families, including Nicky Hilton, Dylan Lauren, and Dan Girardi - customizing each one to fit the needs and interests of the children. Karri regularly receives inquiries from around the world and her innovative, educational Smart Playrooms designs have been featured in a variety of magazines including House Be.autiful, CT and G and The New York Times.

DENISE DAVIES

CO-FOUNDER 

Denise Davies is on a mission. She believes that innovative and thoughtful design can create inspiring and welcoming spaces for families and kids. Denise is known for her bold, playful and original designs where she takes a modern, fresh approach to every project.

Denise’s inspiration and love of color started with her childhood growing up in Miami in a vintage art deco home. Her mother is an artist and always encouraged Denise to think outside of the box and be creative and most importantly an independent thinker.

Denise founded D2 Interieurs in 2010. As an award winning interior designer, she transforms countless homes, commercial spaces, and play spaces. Her work has graced the covers and pages of HGTV Magazines, NYC&G, House Beautiful, CTC&G, Luxe Interiors + Design, Aspire Home + Design, New England Home and many more.

Davies, a proud mama herself, creates playrooms that make a statement by being colorful, personal, and elicit happiness. Every playroom should be designed to be a magical place where kids want to stay and play!
