NBC TV Series George to the Rescue to deliver a heartwarming makeover episode on NBC this Spring 2022

White Plains, NY (March 17, 2022): Project Playroom is at it again.  In an effort to revolutionize the playroom and put passion back into play, co-founders Denise Davies and Karri Bowen-Poole have been trend setters and leaders in the play space industry by creating the most transformative spaces and products. Most recently, the dynamic duo was hired by Gilda’s Club Westchester, a network partner of Cancer Support Community, to reimagine the teen and kids spaces in their building. The incredible transformation will be airing on Saturday, April 23rd on NBC’s Emmy Award winning show George To the Rescue at 9:30am and 7pm. This special episode will be a reveal that promises to be compelling, emotional, relatable, inspiring and uplifting.  An official ribbon cutting ceremony is on Wednesday, May 4th at Gilda’s Club from 5-7pm.

“We have been given this incredible opportunity to help others,” co-founder of Project Playroom, Karri Bowen-Poole.  “We understand the way kids play, and take into consideration what they are going to use the spaces for. We can really make an impact on these kids' lives and how they feel when they come to Gilda’s Club.  The intentional way of how we set up the spaces allows for therapy to happen for these kids. We make them comfortable in their surroundings, and they begin to open up about their sadness, their fears, and hopes too!”

Denise Davies, co-founder of Project Playroom, “We want to inspire these kids to be creative, the spaces were outdated and Gilda’s Club needed us to add some life and energy back into these rooms. We are so honored to be able to give the kids and teenagers a space to express themselves and have a safe place to let their emotions flow. We want these spaces to be colorful, inviting, engaging and comfortable. We want to inspire these kids through design and color, and we want them to be creative and express their emotions and to feel safe. ”

Left to Right: Karri Bowen-Poole, founder of Smart Playrooms, and Denise Davies, founder of D2 Interieurs  co-founded Project Playroom.  Denise and Karri still maintain their parent businesses while simultaneously running their wildly successful Project Playroom business.

Jen Scully, executive director of Gilda’s Club Westchester,  “They say it takes a village, and this project has been no exception! We hit the jackpot by bringing Project Playroom on board.  We knew we needed a space that would be visually impactful, but also age appropriate and functional and these teams had the perfect players to execute!  The icing on the cake was getting to work with George to the Rescue who will bring wonderful exposure to the organization.  We can’t wait to welcome our kids and teens into these spaces!” Jen adds, “Denise and Karri were incredible to work with.  They created visually stunning spaces that are also incredibly functional for the kids and teens who come to Gilda’s Club.”

The rooms designed by Project Playroom will be safe spaces for kids and teens impacted by cancer for many years to come. Project Playroom transformed the teen lounge, teen art studio, teen outdoor space and younger kids playroom.  Project Playroom also included many of their products from their online retail store.  The room that was designed for kids 12 and under, appropriately called “Noogieland” has Project Playrooms rock wall panels, holds, soft mat, colorful wall mural and neon sign and more.

Project Playroom offers communal and commercial design services across the country and also has a playroom collection which can be purchased online  www.projectplayroom.com
